It is a situation where one parent is the only provider in the family, and these parents are mostly single mothers. Parenting has become a burden since mothers lack the effort to support a family of more than three in terms of provision of food, education, clothing and shelter. Parenting burden is brought about by children with some physical handicap who need a special diet or treatment. Others have mental handicap and have to be looked at, which brings in a lot of work, especially to one parent with low-income levels. Other reasons may include a lack of family planning, leading to mothers giving birth to many children. The parental burden is linked to the increasing crime rates in rural and urban areas since it is argued that a lack of proper child guidance will lead to perverted ways, which is a major issue (Friesen et al., 2021). The burden leads mothers to concentrate on a few children leaving the others behind due to either lack of time to educate them or irresponsibility. This perspective differs from other perspectives since parental burden can be avoided through acts such as family planning to avoid conceiving many children.
