Since I was a young child, I was always interested in learning geography. The idea of being in different countries always amazed me. Meeting different people, learning different cultures and socializing has always fascinated me. Working in the international environment and managing businesses at the global level is something that I have always wanted. One of my main interests is languages. I have a good grasp of English language since I have learnt it since my childhood. Apart from English, I have also been undertaking French classes for the past six years. I have been undertaking these classes on my part time to avoid a collision with my normal school routine and to improve my proficiency in languages.
As I learnt maths and physics at school, I have also developed an interest in the business field thus giving me more impetus to learn a business subject. Learning physics at a more advanced level has given me much insight in understanding basic principles surrounding the earth and their application. Solving problems as taught in the maths classes has toughened me up to withstand all the challenges of life and I am now certain that I can succeed at any level. Though the lessons have been theoretical, the lessons in life remain firmly engraved in my mind. The main reason as to why I want to pursue international business is practice that theoretical knowledge in the world of business
Being an exchange student in England has always been a life changing experience. It gave me the chance to know myself a lot better. The environment was new and unfamiliar but I managed how to cope in such situations. Difficulties were there but I learned how to live on my own while still maintaining a descent way of living free from any immoral or criminal issues. The school system there was different from what I was used to when I was growing up. I had always been used to a small school, same classmates and same friends where I knew almost everyone. However, this was different. The school was quite large, new surrounding and meeting new people every day. Being a school with diverse cultures, I was able to encounter different beliefs, opinions, value systems, and points of view, which has changed my perspective of life in one way or the other.
In England, I was a member of the amateur football team and I was eventually promoted to the main team. The exercises were very demanding and I had to dedicate a lot of time and effort to achieve both personal goals that I had set out at the beginning and the team goals that had been set by our trainers. My individual goal was to join the main team and I fulfilled that within six months. I would remain behind after training and practice for one hour more to improve on my weaker foot. It never came as a surprise when my name appeared on the senior team having been the youngest in that squad. As part of that team we managed to reach the cup finals which we lost to a team which had more financial resources and we went back home feeling proud.
As I stated earlier, I have studied French for the last six years. I have spent some time in France at a summer language course. I am applying for this course because I feel it will open up more doors for me manage business in the French capital which has always been my dream. Since this course also has a French integrated modular, I feel that it is a great way to improve my language proficiency skills and master the skills of business management at the international level. Such opportunities do not come often in life and I am looking forward to this great chance.
While still in England, I managed to visit the European parliament in Brussels, Belgium. This presented me with a firsthand experience of how it works. I also had the chance to talk to members from different states. I realized how hard it is for some European member countries to have their employees working here, especially those from Eastern Europe. This gave a lot of inspiration to study international business. I also firmly believe that studying international business would one day give me a chance to represent my people in such forums.
I have also gained a lot of work experience working at a local construction firm. This firm also has branches all over the country. I spent more than two weeks there assigned as a receivables clerk. It gave me opportunity to understand how business operates at that level since some of the goods were delivered overseas. Due to my curiosity, I also had a chance to talk to the general manager and he shared with me a lot of valuable experience that I am going to carry with me wherever I go. I also had an insight how the various departments such as finance, transport and logistics operate....
