Introduction
Police corruption is a phenomenon that has become all too common in the global society today. Law enforcement officers are often associated with corruption and bribery, which has tarnished the good name of police officers at different levels and in different parts of the world (Albanese, 2015, p. 16). In full fairness, not all police officers are corrupt. In fact, in most cases only a few are but their actions result in the association of law enforcement personnel as corrupt and dishonest. This paper aims at using the case of the Rampart Division of the Los Angeles Police Department to analyze this phenomenon of unethical behavior as well as suggest several ways through which the problem may be dealt with.
