Problems Facing Runaway Children
Abstract
There is little knowledge available to the public regarding the problem of runaway children. The problem is even worse in developing countries according to a United Nations report released in 2012. However, there is a significant number of runaway children in developed countries including the United Kingdom and the numbers are said to be rapidly rising. With lapsing time, the problem is said to be getting worse by the day due to deteriorating financial conditions and lack of consideration by governments and social work services. In the UK, for instance, the Children’s Society and other social work agencies responsible for childcare point out that an estimated 100,000 children under the age of 16 run away from their homes every year. Latest statistics also indicate that the number is on the rise amid little concern from concerned authorities.
