Reflecting on a Dilemma (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

The relationship between parties creates the existence or nonexistence of your duty to them. Depending on what our relationship is to others changes our obligations. For example, a manufacturer’s duty of care is to make sure that the products they sell are reasonably safe and to provide warnings of any potential dangers that the use of the product may cause. Therefore, the scope of a manufacturer’s duty of care is to a consumer who uses the product as intended and properly. The manufacturer may have no duty of care to a consumer who uses the product for a different purpose than intended or if the product is used improperly. Here is another example. A property owner has a duty of care to make sure that her/his property is reasonably safe from those that may enter onto the property. That level of duty of care may be different depending on the relationship of the property owner to those entering the property. The duty of care owed a visitor may be different than one owed a trespasser.

Ethical virtues
Introduction
Being born from a humble background and being intelligent, one often faces a lot of ethical problems in exchange for a better life but with concrete morality, even the deadliest situations in life are maneuvered. Personally, I grew up in a humbled family where my parents instilled discipline in relating to the ever-changing tempting life. My mother could wake me up early in the morning on Sundays to attend first mass in our local catholic church. It is in this religious setup that grew morally upright. However in the moral life, one ought to circumvent many testing situations calling for moral compromise if not properly managed. This happened to me during my final year in High school when one of my close friends cornered me to help him cheat the final examination in exchange for some a hundred dollar bill. I was really struggling financially both in school and at home. Having my father working as a janitor in a nearby hospital and my mother selling coffee to the manual workers in a quarry a few miles away. Some days I had to do little hustles to correspond to my parent’s earnings and help bring up my young siblings. Taking the $100 meant that a portion of my financial problems was gone and perhaps aggravate our friendship with Bob. But on the other side, this could translate to exam irregularities and a consequential dismissal of both of us from high school based on Exam cheating. Besides, it could also pave a new leeway into immorality and later on end up as Junkie. I did not want to involve my parents in decision-making since they could barely comprehend my situation compared to the long time I have spent cultivating my dream as a barrister. The following day which I was to give Bob a response toward playing murky in the coming exams I decided to turn down the offer and instead helped Bob to revise his Anatomy paper that night. Today Bob is a medical student at one of the biggest universities and was recently termed as the best performing student in his class. Below I am going to analyse the dilemma in relation to Ethics of virtues as evident in contemporary society.
Reflecting on the above dilemma situation one can be tempted to compromise his/her ethical formation in exchange for simple offers like money which will last for a short while but leave a huge effect on people concerned. Through my decision to refuse the offer, Bob studies hard with my help and this enabled him to develop an endearing attitude towards academics. My decision on that day acted as a turning point to his previous squeaky academic behaviours where he could exchange excellence with money maybe if not rejected he could end up in juvenile detention.
The choice on turning the offer down however hard it was brought relief to me. I took a risk on our friendship with Bob to turn him down. In fact, it had occurred to me that upon telling him that I won’t be involved in creating exams, he would probably embarrass me in the whole class, use his influence to bully me, or even orchestrate a plan to have me bitten by his friends. In turn, he became conscious of his wrongful past and developed a positive attitude toward self-hard work in academics. Sometimes when making ethical decisions one has to explore all possible options in mitigating any challenges to ethics and risk losing material benefits or even friendships at the expense of ethics. Ethics forms the pivotal basic component of human logical reasoning traits which are manipulated negatively can be compromised inconsequential in any person.
To make people corrupt they are ethical composure, orchestrators of unethical reasoning will always find leverage on their partners which lifted or applied makes most people compromise their entire virtues and get involved in corrupt plans. These leverages are often past experiences where one compromised ethics, mistakes, unpaid debts, or even favours.  The optimal decision on ethics is supposed to be solely made after a proper scrutinization of possible options without harming their neighbours and at the same time maintaining concrete ethical values intact.
As the teachings of Aristotle dictate, ethics of value plays a significant role in developing a character of an individual within a societal setup. If everyone in the society is prone to ethical compromise to any degree then the entire future of the society is always at stake. Thinking of a society where everyone has no moral standing on ethics, makes the worst society ever in the history of ethical studies since this will give rise to all sorts of immoral practices like corruption, bribery, racial discrimination, defiling among others. In return, the society will be subjected to zero development and also moral degradation which is vital in any given society on earth.
Historically basic acts of ethics of virtues can be well illustrated by Mother Teresa’s acts of charity to the less fortunate. These acts were instilled in her moral composition during her early ages and until her death, Mother Teresa maintained her ethics. They simply include acts of care, brave, innocence, honesty, integrity, loyalty, kindness, and many more. These virtues make a whole moral character trait that connotes goodwill to the people and in most cases identifies people. Subsequent corrosion of these acts calls for mistrust and immoral traits which later on translate to betrayal in human character if not properly contained on time.
Ethics of virtues can be well managed if the party involves is adequately willing to make a turning point from ill-motivated character (Lütge, C. 2019). Bob decided to overturn the tables and opt for a more integrity captivating academic life. In law, Ethics of virtues defer from one person to the other but through keen observation analysi
