A Reflection of Shakespeare in the Bush
The methodology that works for me best is reading out loud. It helps me get a better interpretation of the poem even before analyzing it step by step. The reading aloud part is one of the steps of how I study a poem. Reading the poem at least twice is the first step of studying the context. Reading out loud can be very helpful. The second step entails reading the title and thinking about it regarding how it relates to the poem Shakespeare in the Bush. The title can paint a picture of the content of the poem. At times the title is ironic or in opposition to the body of the poem. The other step is knowing the speaker; who they are, who they are addressing, their personality, gender, age, and perspective. It is also vital to analyze/explore the tone and mood of the poem. The final two steps are paraphrasing and the theme of the poem.
