HAMLET
The play Hamlet is by William Shakespeare and was written between 1599 and 1602. It is about a Prince of Denmark who returns home from Germany to find his father has been killed by his uncle, his father's brother, who marries the Prince's mother and takes over the kingdom as the ruler. Hamlet becomes angry and plots to kill his uncle, Claudius. The uncle tries to kill his nephew and later sends him into exile in England in an attempt to ensure that he is in a position to be executed by the King of England. On his return home, Hamlet kills his uncle but in the process his mother dies. As Hamlet is dying, he declares that the Prince of Norway, Fortinbras should take over.
Plays such as Hamlet are attributable to human culture. Drama is useful in the description of modernity, the aspects of life that are now easy to study now as opposed to the past. There are various aspects of life that would not be studied due to the lack of knowledge and resources can be studies now such as psychology. In Hamlet, there are various aspects of psychology that are yet to be understood such as the character Of Hamlet and this body becoming possessed with the ghost of his father. In addition, drama such as plays is important in the transmission of such aspects from one period of time to another.
