The Ring's Power: What Would You Do? (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

If I had the ring's power, I would be unfair. From a young age, we are taught that positive behavior is rewarded. However, as you age, you realize that being "just" is good since it prevents people from criticizing you. People favor correct behavior for a reason—it keeps them afloat and prevents others from having a poor opinion of them. Nobody disputes the possibility that someone may gain by lying. Despite this, I would still use the ring's wealth-making potential. I am usually around people who are struggling financially; therefore, eliminating this problem will make me feel less stressed, anxious, and guilty. Even though I would want to believe it is for the greater good, I stand to benefit personally from it. I would not damage anyone physically if I were to do this. I will explain why I acted the way I did in this paragraph. No one would ever know that I did not take from those who stood to lose the most due to what I did.
