Short text analysis Literature & Language Essay Paper (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

I am now posting a PDF with instructions for your first SHORT text analysis (ONE-Pager) These text analysis are meant to be VERY short 1-pagers and I do not expect any rigorous critical analysis or expansion on the question being asked.
Think of them as a quick short answer question which is ultimately asking you to recap and explain some key themes/issues in the text/material you are reading. There is no need to quote, there is not to do any outside research or any research at all; basically it is like a summary of the themes you have been looking at IN RELATION to the question I am asking. You do need to use your own words reflecting your own understanding of the Stevenson textbook; that is to say dont simply write the exact same thing that Stevenson/Haberman are writing -- use your own voice. This first text analysis is a sort of Compare/Contrast the approach of Hinduism and Confucianism to the 'Human Nature' question.

The Confucius theory fails to mention God, the universe and any spiritual nature in their approach to human nature and instead cites the need for not only ethical conduct but also respect and benevolence to be essential in explaining the human nature. Conversely, Hinduism bases its ideas that include the abstractive and philosophical points of the self, cosmos, universe and reality. This paper aims to analyze how the lack of or the presence of metaphysical interpretations translates to various into various views on the human nature.
The lack of a metaphysical question allows the Confucius approach to use other principles in explaining the human nature in a non-abstractive way. For instance, the Confucius theory recognizes morality as the guiding principle where morality is within an individual’s sphere to control. Further, Confucius proposes the way of the sages. Sages were not only wise individuals but also lived an entirely benevolent, virtuous and righteous life. Likewise, human beings have the potential to do and be good; however, materialism and selfishness always detracts and corrupts this tendency. Additionally, benevolence, which is the proper and dignified treatment of others, similar to the treatment of self is the bottom-line of moral life.
