Even with the decrease of teen pregnancies by approximately 55 percent, adolescents are still getting pregnant and giving birth, where the highest percent of these pregnancies are unplanned and unintended. These teen parents experience health risks, multip0le stressors and other complications. The teen's socio-economic life is usually risked since they have challenges with connecting with the unpregnant teens. The teen mother and baby face health and socio-economic risks.
Teenage mothers are usually likely to drop out of school or score below average compared to non-pregnant adolescents. Teenage mothers usually have low self-esteem and confidence. Some end in depression and end up in substance and drug abuse (Feldman & Margolis, 2016). A lack of resources like finances depression is also caused to support their children's lives and boost their emotional development.
