“The Descendants” by Kaui Hart Hemmings
This paper gives a review of the novel “The Descendants” by Kaui Hart Hemmings in the year 2007. The novel focuses on Matt King a descendant of a Hawaiian landowner and the twists and turns of his life and his family. At first he is happy and successful; unfortunately his wife goes into a coma after suffering a boat accident. She is grounded to look after his two daughters that help him reconnect and understand them. The two are Alex who recovering from drug addiction and Scottie who is feisty. This gives him a good chance to reconnect with them as a family since he had been so busy with his work and was a back up parent.
To his surprise he finds out that his wife was cheating on him since she had an affair with another man (Hemmings, 2007). He is also finds himself obligated to find the lover so that his wife Joanie would get a chance to say her last good bye’s to the family and friend. The book clearly tackles the trials tribulations, challenges and experiences of Matt as he discovers the truth and reunites with his family.
