Mathematics is a crucial subject that is incorporated in most courses since most of these courses utilize mathematical concepts. These concepts are applied in someone’s career in the future. Furthermore, mathematics involves the use of number, which are utilized in day to day life. My major is web design and new media and it entails design and creation of websites, and development of content using various types of electronic communication means, which include websites and blogs, emails, chat rooms, mobile apps, and social media platforms. I have found that in web design and new media course, graphic design skills and understanding of major programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript forms the major subjects in the major (Koyani, et al. 4).
