The Theme of Choices in Fire and Ice
In Fire and Ice by Robert Frost, the main theme and the central point revolves around the concept of choices. The literary work is set up by the author for the audience to choose between ice and fire. The major question is to present the reader with a need for choosing between fire and ice as to which of the two would lead to the end of the world (Frost, 2017). Based on the wisdom gained by the author through his experience, Frost decides that the desire and other forces related to fire would most likely be the first to lead to the destruction of the world. After all, the speaker of the literary work argues that fire is considered to be the realm of passion, which is also impulsive.
On the other hand, the audience would identify that the cool deliberation brought about by ice would be of no lesser effect in terms of destroying the world. The speaker in the poem effectively chooses between fire and ice while also trying hard to avoid choosing one over the other, which leaves the reader without a definite decision.
