Paragraphs five and six of the story, The Story of an Hour have used nature symbolically. The description of the nature detailed in both paragraphs signifies the sombre mood that engulfed Louise following the revelations of the sudden demise of her husband. Though it seems sad for the loss, this was likely to be a new beginning in her life. The demise signified a new era in Louise life which perhaps would be better than the period her husband was arrive. The author quotes, “the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring of life, (Chopin).” This description is a manifestation of the twisted relationship that the subjects mentioned in the story had.
From the narration of the story, it seems that the marriage between Louise and Brently Mallard was not a smooth one. During the subsistence of their marriage, they had matrimonial wrangles more often. After the demise of her husband, Louise conscience whispers to her, that a new dawn has come and she was going to be free. During his lifetime, Brently Mallard subjugated his wife’s freedom. The wife now feel that she will be free as the author asserts, “There would be no one to live for her during those coming years, she would live for herself, (Chopin)” Essentially, the marital union between the two was best with issues.
