Assessments are very important tools in the education curriculum. The results of learning are a key consideration of teachers, administrators and students because they help students learn and be able to see their class performance, assessments make students understand the course materials.
What Is the Role of Assessment in Education?
Assessments help students to focus on their time and attention by ensuring that they achieve the objectives of their course, they enable students to know what they are supposed to know at the accomplishment of the course. Assessments affect many students on the side of grades. Students performance is measured with grades, the better the grades the better the performance of the students. Assessments determine placement of students; therefore, students with higher grades have a higher chances of joining the best faculties in universities compared to those with lower grades. Assessments also help students when it comes to educational advancements because it would not be possible for a student who scored a Second Lower class degree to proceed with his or a her master’s degree immediately after graduation compared to a first class or second upper class degree student. Assessments helps teachers to have more feasibility of what students understand and know areas to support them by providing feedback to students. Assessments also help students to take learning as their own responsibility hence creating students learning awareness. What Is the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children?
Dr. David Wechsler a clinical psychologist developed Wechsler intelligence scales at Bellevue hospital. Wechsler intelligence scale for children is an instrument children take individually in assessing children learning intelligence of children between the ages of six years to 16 years and eleven months. Coon and Mitterer (2014) suggest that Wechsler tests are intelligence tests that individual undergo with the help of trained psychologists. Wechsler measures the following abilities, verbal abilities and nonverbal abilities.
Wechsler defines intelligence as the ability adjusts and usefully solves problems in the environment. Teachers can request Wechsler intelligence test when a child’s performance declines and the grades scored are poor. Wechsler intelligence test has several benefits, which include; it assists teachers in identifying learning challenges faced by children. Schools use Wechsler intelligence scales for placement evaluations of programs for children who are gifted and those who are not. In case of a dysfunction of the brain, Wechsler intelligence scales use neuropsychological evaluation as part of the intelligence assessment. Wechsler intelligence scales diagnose IQ scores used in the diagnosis of mental retardation. These scores are good in evaluating children’s who have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Raven’s Progressive Matrices are numerous intelligence tests developed by Dr. John C. Raven in 1936. Raven’s Progressive Matrices measures the ability to gain education; it measures the ability to make sense when evaluating complex data, the perception ability in cognition of patterns and relationship. Domino and Domino (2006) argue that Raven’s Progressive Matrices has three test notably: the Standard Progressive Matrices, This matrix is the most widely used test of the three test. The tests are progressive because every problem is in a set, which has its own difficulties.
