Job satisfaction is turning out to be important in the place of work. Employers currently appreciate that when their employees are happier, the attitude towards their work is better. More so, when there is higher motivation, the employees’ performance is better. In whichever field of work, job satisfaction depends so much on how encouraging the environment of work is. The work, pay, and a promotion scope is just a number of factors that have an effect on the satisfaction of any job (Brislin, 2010). Other factors include but not limited to emotions, mood, personality, and genetics.
Studies indicate that just a number of organizations consider that job satisfaction is an essential component in their general strategy and minimal is being done so as to nurture it (Brislin, 2010). It can be as a result of the fact that a lot of organizations do not understand the connection between productivity and job satisfaction. In fact, within the right settings and conditions, job satisfaction can in a large extent result in higher productivity. Once employees consider that their work is interesting and fun, they will be ready to give more effort at their workplace for the advantage of the entire organization. On the other hand, when employees feel that their job is boring and meaningless, there is a possibility of having a negative attitude, which ultimately results in productivity’s decline.
Additionally, when employees enjoy a higher extent of job satisfaction, they seem to be friendlier with their fellow employees (Altman, 2001). This helps in promoting teamwork where sharing knowledge and information is promoted. Studies have also indicated that job satisfaction may result in a better as well as safer working setting with lesser unwanted conflicts that otherwise would slow down the organization’s smooth running. With the discussion provided, I would value job satisfaction the most in the workplace.
In the school setting, when teachers feel job satisfaction, the result is seen in their learners because there would be a great student-teacher relation, hence creating a conducive learning experience. On the other hand, teachers who do not have job satisfaction experience hardship in dealing with their students because they portray a negative attitude toward students as well as their work-mates (Altman, 2001).
Emotions and mood at the workplace are connected to employee satisfaction.
