source..As one of the significant causes of health issues, alcohol is still the primary drug most people abuse, not excluding college students. According to the Havard School of Public Health, from approximately 11,000 undergraduate students, 81% of them are alcohol users (Weiten et al., 2016). Of the 81%, 49% were men, while 41% were women. From this data, we see that most college students abuse alcohol. Their intention is always to get drunk. Unfortunately, most undergraduates do this by drinking at least five or more drinks back-to-back, which is not the sensible way of doing so. If that is not enough, students who are alcohol abusers are often in different sororities and fraternities groups. Because of this, they spend less money on books while more on alcohol. Drinking among these students is also influenced by one's self-esteem. They always think that one can forget about their problems and stress with ease when drunk.
