1. Gather and chop the fresh leaves into small pieces.
2. Wash thoroughly under running water.
3. Boil the chopped leaves into a 1L water for 15 minutes until 1 glassful remains.
4. Cool and strain.

2. AKAPULKO

For decoction:

Apply as a soap to the affected area 1-2x a day.
For decoction:
Drink the decoction 2x a day to use as an expectorant for bronchitis, and also may be used as a mouthwash, stringent and wash for eczema (Philippineherbalmedicine.org)

For Tea preparation:
1. Pound or cut about a tablespoon of flowers of niyog-niyogan
2. Then add in 2 cups of boiling water for 10-15 minutes.
3. Strain.
4. Let it cool.
For Tea:
Drink tea 2-3x a day. Use and prepare as needed
Fruit:
Fruits or seeds are eaten raw or cooked 2 hours before the patient’s last meal of the day.
Adults: 10 seeds
4-7 y/o: 4 seeds maximum
8-9 y/o: 6 seeds
10-12 y/o: 7 seeds

For Diarrhea:
Boil the chopped leaves in 2 glasses of water for 15 minutes, or until amount of water goes down to 1 glass. Cool and strain.
For Stomachache:
Wash leaves and chop. Boil chopped leaves in 1 glass of water for 15 minutes. Cool and strain and filter.
For Diarrhea:
Divide decoction into 4 parts. Let patient drink 1 part every 3 hours.
For Stomachache:
Drink as needed.

Aka. Bitter gourd or bitter melon.

6. LAGUNDI

For Asthma, cough, and fever:
Boil chopped raw fruits or leaves in 2 glasses of water. Leave for 15 minutes until the water left is 1 glassful. Let it cool and strain
For Dysentery, colds and pain:
Boil a handful of leaves and flowers in water to produce a glassful of decoction.
For skin diseases and wounds:
Boil a handful of leaves and flowers in water to produce a decoction.
For headache:
Gather leaves and wash thoroughly. Crush and pound the leaves.
For rheumatism, sprain, contusions, and insect bites:

For Asthma, cough and fever:
Divide into 3 parts. Drink 3x a day.

7. ULASIMANG BATO

Lowers uric acid (for rheumatism and gout)
As a decoction:
Wash the leaves well. One and a half cup of leaves is boiled in 2 glassfuls of water over low fire. Do not cover. Cool and strain.
Raw:
Gather and wash the leaves thoroughly. Prepare one and a half cups of leaves. Do no pack closely.
Decoction:
Divide into 3 parts and drink each part 3x a day.
Raw:
Divide into 3 parts and take as salad 3x a day.

Lowers cholesterol levels in the blood
For hypertension and high cholesterol:
May be fried, roasted, soaked in vinegar for 30 minutes, or blanched in boiled water for 5 minutes.
For toothache:
Pound a small piece.
For hypertension and cholesterol:
Take 2-3 pieces 3x a day after meals.
For toothache:
Apply the pounded garlic to the affected part.
**Take on full stomach or after meals to prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers.
