The ethics surrounding doctor-assisted suicide has been a hotly debated issue within the courts of law. The term suicide however leaves a poor taste in the mouths of some individuals as this implies a person is taking their own life, usually due to severe depression. While doctor-assisted suicide may be a crime in some states, physicians should be allowed to aid terminally ill patients in ending their life if there are no other options available to preserve their dignity as well as help the surviving family financially.
