Smoking has effects to both the smokers and the people living with them and the most common of them is cancer. Smoking has various impacts ranging from health, financial and social. All these impacts are negative since there is no known documented positive effect of smoking
Smoking causes various types of cancers namely; tongue, bladder, ovary, lung, cervix, liver, stomach, esophagus, nose, nasal sinus, pancreas and kidney. Lung cancers is categorized as the most common of all the cancers caused by smoking since it accounts for more than 80% of all lung cancer fatalities worldwide. Tobacco smoke for instance contains over 4000 chemicals; these include carbon monoxide, tar, formaldehyde and nicotine, which are highly addictive and carcinogenic. Marijuana smoke mainly contains 400 chemicals, which are as highly addictive and carcinogenic as well. (Hill, 1983). Smoking is harmful to both the smokers and those around them who end up inhaling secondhand smoke from the smokers, cancer mainly result from an overgrowth of body tissues due to the various form (Proctor, 2004)
Scientist and other medical practitioner have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that smoking causes several forms of cancer and the so caused cancer accounts for 100 million deaths annually worldwide. With this facts in record it provides all reasons for quitting or never to start smoking for those yet to start unless for those having a death wish. Smoking is a rather expensive affair because it is habitual in nature. Smoking is said to be habitual in nature meaning that the smokers have to do it repeatedly to quench the urge to smoke. Thus causing the smokers to spend repeatedly on this luxurious smoking lifestyle e.g. it costs $ 7.00 or even more to buy a pack of cigarettes and considering one takes two packs per day it translates into $14 a day, $420 a month and $5040 a year thus pro
