The article is about food security. Food security means the measure of availability and ability of an individual to have access to the food. Lack of adequate food leads to malnutrition which is associated with health-related issues. In this article, the authors are concentrated on food security in the context of HIV. HIV is amongst the epidemic diseases that gives health officials across the globe a headache. In the article, the authors found out that insufficient food leads to increased HIV transmission behaviour. Consequently, minimizes access to HIV treatments and care. To understand and measure the correlation between food security and the needs of HIV patients, the authors identified three components of food security. These include dietary quality, food safety and food sufficiency. According to the authors’ findings, the three food security components allows the health officials to improve measurement and tracking of the HIV patients and other vulnerable people. Furthermore, the article highlights the key food insecurity indicators used by the health agencies and how such indicators relevant in the context of HIV. Lastly, the article offers appropriate strategies that can be used to mitigate the adverse effects associated with each condition.
