The Future of Nursing 2020-2030
Introduction
The Future of Nursing 2020-2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity examines how nurses might decrease health inequities and promote equity in the future while managing costs, using technology, and delivering patient- and family-centered care (Bergren, & Maughan, 2021). This study elaborates on the structure created in the report, a study by the Institute of Medicine. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how campaigns for action for state-based action coalitions have affected nursing as a profession, nursing education, and the expansion of the nursing workforce.
The Work of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
As a non-profit organization, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) provides objective, impartial evaluation and guidance to government organizations, the public, and the private sector. NASEM is motivated by a commitment to serving the public good in the form of enhanced health for all Americans (Brossard et al., 2017). The Future of Nursing 2020-2030: Mapping Out a Strategy to acquire Health Equity was a study issued by NASEM in October 2020. The research does more than just provide suggestions for how nursing may better meet the requirements of the American public; it also establishes a direction for the future of the field. The study is based on the results of an academic committee that was entrusted with looking into the nursing field and making suggestions for how it might better meet the needs of the American people (Bergren, & Maughan, 2021). The committee's findings are backed by research into the topic at hand, data collected from a variety of sources, and input from interested parties.
Trends Occurring in the Nursing Workforce and How Nursing Education is Adapting to Meet the Evolving Needs of the Profession
The nursing profession is now experiencing a trend in which an increasing number of registered nurses are leaving the profession, either due to retirement or other reasons. Nursing education is evolving to satisfy the shifting requirements of the business, and one way that this is happening is via the expansion of online and individualized learning options. The tasks of nurses in promoting change include fostering growth in the nursing profession and providing care that is based on the most credible evidence currently available. The nursing profession is now dealing with a number of challenges, some of which include a shortage of nurses, an aging workforce, and a dynamically changing healthcare environment. As a result of these concerns, there is a larger need for nursing professionals, which has led to a rise in the number of people interested in pursuing nursing degrees.
The nursing education system is making adjustments to meet the needs of the business by increasing the number of programs that are available online and that can be personalized. Such programs provide nurses the opportunity to complete their education while still working full-time, which helps alleviate the nursing shortage. The tasks of nurses in promoting change include fostering growth in the nursing profession and providing care that is based on the most credible evidence currently available. By relying on solutions that are supported by research, nurses are better able to take care of their own well-being while also ensuring that the well-being of nurses is addressed in educational and professional settings. The perspective on health equity that nurses have gained via up-to-date academic and continuing education is consistently used in their work.
Discuss the Role of State-Based Action Coalitions
Action coalitions at the state level are helping to realize the goals laid forth in the National Academy of Sciences' report The Future of Nursing 2020–2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity. These groups work to improve nurse education, working conditions, and patient access to care. The nursing profession, its accessibility, and its quality of treatment are all being actively advanced through coalitions of state-based organizations. These coalitions achieve the goals indicated in the Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity. These partnerships help move the nation closer to achieving the goals that were established in that report. The efforts put forward by these partnerships are very necessary if the nursing profession is going to be in a position to fulfill the needs of the American people.

To improve the quality of nursing education across the state, the Washington Action Coalition is developing a nursing curriculum that will be implemented statewide. These programs are helping to advance nursing as a profession by raising the bar for nursing education and improving the quality of care that is provided to patients. As part of its initiatives to increase patient safety and limit the amount of adverse medication reactions, the Washington Nurses Association is leading an initiative to reduce medication errors.
Reducing the occurrence of pharmaceutical mistakes is crucial to ensuring patient safety (Karande, Marraro, & Spada, 2021). Medication mistakes pose a serious threat to patients and the healthcare system as a whole because of the potentially fatal consequences they may have.
