Primary health care in a society is responsible for diagnosing different disorders faced by individuals. During the treatment process, primary health caregivers experience challenges depending on the nature of the disorder the patients suffers. Hyperactive triglycerides, a common lipid abnormality disorder often pose a challenge to primary health care on decisions based on the treatment timing of the disorder (Robert C. and J. Brian Lanier, May 1, 2007). High triglyceride management involves lowering the low-density lipoproteins while raising the high-density lipoproteins. Despite the treatment of hyperactive triglycerides facing numerous controversies, primary goal of the treatment process should continue focusing on lowering the levels of low-density lipoproteins. The paper is a research having a basis on treatment process of the lipid abnormality disorder.
Hyperactive triglycerides overview
As highlighted earlier, hyperactive triglycerides is a health condition resulting from an abnormality in the level of lipids in the human body. Triglycerides are lipids stored in fat cells and when released they provide energy. Triglycerides are important in the human body. Nevertheless, high levels of the lipid lead to increased risk of cardiac disorders and as well, some body metabolic disorders such as highblood pressure, pancreatitis and highblood sugar. Normally, determination of an abnormality in the levels of the fat is through a blood test. Under normal conditions, the level of these lipids is below 150. However, the borderline between the normal conditions is 150 and 200. An individual with the borderline levels of triglycerides is under risks of suffering from the condition. Lastly, individuals with levels above 200 suffer from the hyperactive triglycerides (Antonio M. Gotto, December 2002).
When to begin treatment of high triglycerides

Determination of the levels of triglycerides can be through conventional lipid testing.
Aiming at reducing the risks attributed to the disorder, treatment of severe hyperactive triglycerides should begin at the initial stages. When beginning the treatment process of the disorder, primary caregivers often begin with fibrate (a cholesterol-regulating drug) administration together with lifestyle changes. On the other hand, mild hyperactive triglycerides treatment should begin with lifestyle changes of the patients. Additionally, health caregivers should start determining changes in the contributing risk factors.
In cases where high levels of triglycerides prevail, actual treatment of controlling body cholesterol levels should begin. It has an implication that drug therapy treatment begins immediately using strain indicators for controlling the levels of triglycerides in the human body (Antonio M. Gotto, December 2002). There are two-treatment processes adopted by doctors once they diagnose a patient with the disorder. They include lifestyle changes and drug treatment process (Robert C. and J. Brian Lanier, May 1, 2007). Their implications to the patients are as in the discussion below;
Lifestyle changes
It is a treatment process aiming at controlling the causing agents physically. It involves both diet control procedures and as well, lifestyle changes approaches that control obese conditions and triglycerides levels. Some of the dietary procedures include limiting the intake of sugars and fats in patients. Additionally, since the disorder is an indication of high levels of carbohydrate intake, patients often cut down their starch intakes.
Additionally, there is some lifestyle changes used while treating the disorder in patients. Exercises among patients can aid in controlling their fat levels in their bodies. As a result, as a lifestyle change, patients engage more activities that enable them loose their weight and maintain healthy weights (Antonio M. Gotto, December 2002). Body mass index is an indicator used in determining obese levels. Therefore, losing weight enables patients maintain a standard and healthy body to mass index. Lastly, high triglyceride levels treatment can be through limiting smoking among patients.
Both dietary and lifestyle change measures are the initial treatment processes used on patients. Doctors often recommend patients on increasing an intake of some foods that lower the levels of triglycerides in the body. Foods such as fish and fish oils (both foods have a high content of omega-3, which is a fatty acid) lower the levels of triglycerides.
Alcohol intake among patients appears as causative agents towards high levels of triglycerides in patients (Payal Kohli, 2012). Both excessive and normal intake of binge alcohol has a significant effect on the triglyceride levels in the blood. Consequently, doctors often recommend patients to either reduce or stop alcohol intake. Additionally, other disorders such as kidney disease and diabetes have a direct relation with triglyceride level abnormalities in the body. Poor control of the disorders through poor medication contributes to high levels of triglyceride. Therefore, doctors may stop a patient undergoing medication to stop some medicines that may be causing the abnormality in the lipid levels.
Drug therapy
Also called an ongoing treatment of hyperactive triglycerides, entails administration of medicine in order to control the prevailing levels of triglycerides after lifestyle changes fail. Drug therapy of the disorder has a relation with the cholesterol levels in the body. Before medicine prescription, doctors often observe precautions such as the causing risk factor and cholesterol levels. Common pharmacologic agents used on management of the disorder include fibrates, statins and as well niacin. Their main roles in the body differ as they target different parts and blood components in the body (Robert C. and J. Brian Lanier, May 1, 2007).
Statins prescribed by doctors on patients suffering from the condition often target low-density lipoproteins in the blood (Robert C. and J. Brian Lanier, May 1, 2007). They have a special role in controlling triglycerides levels in patients as they low the level by approximately 40 percent. On the other hand, as a benefit to the patients, the pharmacologic agent often reduces the risk of heart disorder attacks among patients. Commonly used statins in treating the disorder include; Atorvastatin, administered daily and Rosuvastatin with a stating component of 5 to 20 mg are administered daily on patients.
Fibrates, as highlighted earlier, are known for lowering triglycerides levels approximately by 55 percent among patients with acute hyperactive triglycerides. Similar with statins, fibrates as well reduce the risk of a patient from suffering from heart-related disorders since they increase HDL-C levels approximately by 22 percent. Gemfibrozil (600 mg of fibrates) and Fenofibrate (48 to 145 mg of fibrates) are common medicines used on patents with high triglycerides.
