Change is the only constant thing, yet implementing change is the most difficult aspect of our lives. Organizational change is no different either; restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, processes adjustment, downsizing, and project management can be hard to implement. Effective communication plays an essential role in the accomplishment of organizational change. Implicit communication warrants stakeholder involvement in the change processes via teamwork, while poor communication leads to a rational culture devoid of stakeholder engagement.
Communication is the daily ingredient in the workplace. Organization leadership utilizes communication to coordinate activities, deliberate on plans and rising opportunities, and inspire stakeholders. A successful change process results from effective communication whereby people are informed of the change in advance: the expected time, mode of implementation, stakeholders’ expectations, effect of change on current activities, and sustainability (Hasanaj & Manxhari, 2017). Being open and honest in communicating change is paramount for any organization. Employees are usually more concerned how their positions will be affected by the change hence being detailed builds trust and participation in the change process. Communication brings about understanding the organizations direction, goals, and objectives which leads to efficient planning and setting of goals. Communicating change calls for vision sharing, inspiring stakeholders’ to become agents of change, telling the story to aid in envisioning the change, and charting the way forward (Butt et al., 2016).
