How Human Rights Issues have an Impact on Public Health
Human rights and health can be seen as being linked in different ways. The first is the health consequences of human rights abuses. Some examples of the effect of human rights abuses on health are self-evident; for example, a tortured individual will develop health issues as a result of their ordeal (Eze, 2021). Other cases of human rights abuses harming well-being are less clear. Lack of Access to correct HIV/AIDS information is an example of a human rights violation with significant health consequences. That is the withholding of contraceptives and HIV/AIDS prevention strategies such as condoms. The term "nonfulfillment" refers to the failure to meet or comply with a social justice duty.
There is also a connection between the enjoyment of rights and the creation of favorable health conditions. When you look at the root causes of well-being and happiness, you'll notice that many of them are human rights violations. Social and economic status is the most serious underlying condition. Poor health has been attributed to lower socioeconomic status on several occasions. Discrimination based on race or gender may also have a detrimental effect on one's well-being (Xu & Chopik, 2020). Married women, for example, are contracting HIV at alarmingly high rates all over the world, especially in developing countries. Despite having Access to HIV awareness and contraceptives, they cannot defend themselves due to real obstacles to saying no to sex, discussing contraceptive use, or influencing their husbands' sexual habits.
