Implementation of Advanced Health Technology Student’s Name Institution Implementation of Advanced Health Technology Introduction Human beings have taken a great leap when it comes to technology. The modern world has taken a different direction from how things were done in the past; everything is becoming increasingly digital and machinated. Modern technology has been enhanced to boost functionality and efficiency in basically all sectors. Currently, most of the functions that were done manually before have been taken over by computer operated machines. Primarily, there is no denying the fact that technology has been of great help to the people of the world. The healthcare sector has benefited in many ways from the use of advanced medical equipment. Technology has completely revolutionized the health sector in a positive direction, something that has been welcomed in most parts of the world (Anderson, Frogner, Johns & Reinhardt, 2006). More and more sophisticated equipment meant for treatment is invented on a daily basis. However, this rate of development does not match the spread of this technology around the world. There are barriers that exist to prevent the implementation of advanced technology in some parts of the world and countries. Barriers One of the major obstacles that inhibit the development of high impact technology in hospitals, especially for the third world countries, is the initial cost (Anderson, Frogner, Johns & Reinhardt, 2006). It is a fact that most underdeveloped countries are poor and mostly depend on foreign aid to supplement tax collections. At the same time, new healthcare technology takes a lot of input to be developed in terms of research, resources and time. This is a justification to the high cost of acquiring such equipment. A government may tend to focus on more urgent and basic requirements and still strain its budget. In this case, the probability that high cost equipment would be acquired to boost medical care is very low. In a different scenario, when such technology is actually acquired, it is found in one or two referral health centers. This would not be enough to serve an ever growing population. Technical know-how is another obstacle towards the implementation of advanced healthcare technology (Blaya, Fraser & Holt, 2010). This is based on the fact that machines are developed elsewhere, and then imported to the poor countries. Medical staff may not be qualified to handle such equipment, and this often leads to underutilization or the mere disregard in preference of the basic equipment. Moreover, facilities available in some heath centers may not be enough to support the installation of more advance technology. The Internet Through the diversification of communication media and improvement on the transfer of information, the internet has revolutionized in marketplace in the world today. Information, ideas and new technology in the field of heath care is shared in a very convenient way over the internet. Such information reaches many practitioners and interested parties at almost the same time. The procedures of treatment or technologies used in so...
