Importance of Physical Education in Youth Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Importance of Physical Education in Youth Physical education is of great significance among the youth because it helps reinforce a positive body image. In the modern-day, youths are prone to developing a negative body image due to the negative influence of social media and peers. Unfortunately, young girls are likely to internalize negative body messages, which compromise their overall well-being (Pop, 2017). Physical education creates multiple opportunities for young people to engage in physical activity, which is of key importance in developing a positive body image (Catunda, Marques, & Januário, 2017). It is imperative to ensure that young people recognize their bodies and constantly engage in physical activity. The provision of physical education creates multiple opportunities for ensuring that young people can nurture positive messages regarding their bodies through participation in physical activities. Furthermore, physical activity can create a platform for young people to understand how different movement forms help shape their overall bodies. For this reason, it is imperative to ensure that schools provide physical education to the youth. Physical education has the potential to foster self-discipline among youths. The younger years represent a crucial period during which young people should nurture desirable attributes. Having self-discipline is one of the most desirable attributes that youths can embrace. Physical education offers a platform for participating in different activities such as sports and requires a measure of discipline (Bailey, 2006). As the youths gain familiarity with the rules governing each sport, they establish a higher level of discipline. Such discipline helps them to remain in complete control of distinct aspects of their lives. Acquiring self-discipline translates to a remarkable ability to manage emotions and exercise self-control as they engage in various activities. Physical education creates challenges that foster the development of the true discipline, which benefits the youths even as they transition into adulthood. Having self-discipline increases the chances of succeeding in life. Physical education also fosters the development of confidence among youths. Notably, the transition from childhood to adulthood during the adolescent years serves as an opportunity for youths to acquire the confidence to resolve the ongoing identity crisis. The adolescent years may contribute to lower levels of confidence as the adolescents experience their identity crisis. However, participating in physical education can enhance their confidence levels because physical activities impact every element of life (Claver, Martínez-Aranda, Conejero, & Gil-Arias, 2020). Such confidence becomes more apparent as youths focus on establishing meaningful relationships and collaborations during participation in different physical activities. Such confidence is likely to boost their overall well-being and influence their attitude towards life. In this context, acquiring confidence in one's skills offers a powerful platform for enhancing well-being. For this reason, the provision of physical education motivates the youths to utilize the available opportunities in nurturing the confidence they need in life. Physical education serves as a platform for participating in a diverse range of sports and physical activities. Such participation requires the ability to concentrate keenly and maintain focus on a single activity at a time. Acquiring the unique ability to focus and concentrate on tasks is a predictor of overall productivity in life. Individuals that exhibit higher capacities in concentration have better capabilities in paying attention to their academic studies. It becomes easier for these individuals to embark on achieving specific goals by maintaining the required focus. All the youths need to develop this attribute because it is likely to maximize the learning process and translate to positive academic outcomes (Ferriz, González-Cutre, Sicilia, & Hagger, 2016). Such concentration also translates to a better behavioral pattern of students in school. Physical education establishes a desirable platform for reinforcing effective concentration, the maintenance of focus, and the demonstration of positive behavior. Schools that offer physical education have observed increased student concentration and focus, which are desirable elements in the academic realm. Different studies have linked physical activity with better cognitive performance and memory. Learning requires remarkable cognitive abilities such as concentration and memory. As a result, providing physical education translates to creating a favorable environment for students to demonstrate enhanced cognitive abilities. The provision of physical education creates an opportunity for physical education teachers to offer instruction regarding participation in different sports, dance, mindfulness, and other activities. Adopting the proper rigor in physical education ensures that all students register at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day (Ferriz et al., 2016). Such levels of activity translate to overall health outcomes because the youths gain radically distinctive competencies during play. When a school takes the time to offer physical education, they demonstrate their commitment to fostering the well-being of all learners. Specifically, physical education helps students register a balance between schoolwork, social activities, and other physical activities that enhance body functioning. Thus, physical activities serve as one of the critical drivers of achieving overall health outcomes. In the long term, physical education ensures that youths have a balanced lifestyle. The balanced lifestyle, in this case, prepares them for a better level of organization in life with a clear insight on how to excel in life (Pop, 2017). Without such a balance in life ensures that youths have what it takes to establish a balanced lifestyle. In this context, a balanced lifestyle pays attention to a holistic view of wellness. Introducing physical activity in the early years makes sure that youths develop solid bonds and muscles fit for other responsibilities in the future. Understanding ea...
