Define the concepts/skill of dialogue.
Dialogue is an act of engaging one or two individuals in constructive talks towards making an impact of a change in an organization between leaders and subordinate staff. In an organization for a leader to be able to foresee their vision, targets, and goals they have first to dialogue with other colleagues for these goals to be effective in the organization.
As stated by Englehardt, C et al. (2002), for leaders to carry out positive change towards organizations goals and visions majorly depend on the personality traits of a leader. And in this view, the concept of dialogue in most organizations is the welcoming aspect; this involves the use of expressions and deeds from a leader who clearly communicates on the recognition of their staff’s worth and dignity. As well as the portrayal of acceptance of other staff members, with the prospect of working together with them and allowing their diverse perspectives to be present along with the rest of the organization staff, without trying to adjust them.
It is through the efforts of Joining and Harmonizing in a dialogue that a leader in an organization can link the differences of cultures and organization. And the rest of the staff can make sense of these differences and embrace them as well and also focus on the fact that organizational problems are not individual. It helps leaders and other staffs in an organization or community, try, understand and realize their organizations’ terms and conducts through real interactions with each other. Joining and harmonization in an organization bring forth a leader's vision and intentions towards the organization; by broadening a look at the whole leadership role, and seeking an understanding of how a leader chooses his words and behaviors make sense within the context of change.
Appreciating dialogue between leaders and supporting staff deepens the art of response through recognizing and communicating the value of another’s voice and the help it brings towards an effective change in an organization's purpose and vision as indicated by Hamel, G et al. (2007). This particular concept dwells on learning how to bring varied points of view from challenges into accord. It specifically aims at the progress of wider third choices rather than exclusive forced choices where one's voice is silenced in favor of others.
