Question 1
All health practitioners and facilities are mandated to provide quality care in the sense that the patients receive adequate medical attention and their conditions do not worsen while receiving treatment. According to the case study, the London NHS hospital exhibited deplorable quality conditions during the treatment of Alicia Richman and the various stakeholders had different perspectives regarding the issue. From the perspective of the care service users who primarily include patients such as Alicia, quality care would entail effective diagnosis of their conditions, utmost hygiene standards, responsible and professional behaviors from the medical team, effective communication among the professionals, short waiting periods for treatment and participation in the treatment process. From the care providers, the perspective of quality care would entail zero-tolerance to medical/ diagnosis errors, strict adherence to proper hygiene, effective communication with colleagues and patients and reduced waiting time to attend to patients. From the perspective of regulators such as the Local council and care quality commission (CQC), quality care would entail strict adherence to hygiene and competent medical personnel with zero-tolerance to medical errors.
Question 2
There are various external agencies that are involved in setting quality standards for health and social care. Some of the standards in health care include legislations care Act 2014, NMC code of practice, CQC code and HASAWA 1974 among others.
