HIV/AIDS Pandemic
There has been an outbreak of various diseases that affect individuals in multiple areas of the continent in history. These diseases that arise and spread across the world, affecting different individuals, are known as pandemics. An example of such conditions is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS). The disease is caused by HIV that attacks the body's cells, making it lose immunity (Abecasis & Vandamme, 2015). In relation, the infections lead to its inability to fight diseases, making it venerable to opportunistic infection. The disease virus was new and was first identified by scientists in the 1980's.
Various methods were used to identify HIV/AIDS as a pandemic. First, it was the number of countries the disease spread. In relation, the disease can affect every human being regardless of geographical location and race. Since the 1980s, there was an increase in its spread to various nations. In 1987, the World Health Organization came up with a program to create awareness of the disease in multiple areas in the world.
