After going through several articles regarding the topic of this assignment, I found that this particular article was valid. The study results in this article conformed to the experimental outcome. This study, therefore, is significant with regard to the challenges faced in the health sector. It also tends to explain the reason for the existence of the observed disagreement between nurses and doctors.
The safety and quality of care experienced by patients in any healthcare setting depend on the environment where care is provided. The healthcare environment solely depend on the relationship between nurses and physicians. Therefore, it is important to know how nurses and physicians perceive respectful behavior and their impact in a clinical setting. Perception of nurses-physicians relationship was assessed using a professional practice environment assessment scale.
In the analysis procedure, a sample of all inpatient and outpatient physicians and nurses healthcare facility were identified, and participants invited via in-house mail (Fie, Norman, & While, 2012). Approximately, the emails were sent to 5000 doctors and nurses (Fie, Norman, & While, 2012). The response were then entered into a database and later downloaded for analysis. Incomplete surveys were excluded from analysis. This resulted to attrition rate of 3% (n=41), that were evenly distributed to physicians (n=20), and nurses (n=21) (Fie, Norman, & While, 2012). The role of physicians was found to be significant and rated the practicing environment favorable compared to fellows or residents.
Behaviors demonstrating Respect
Both nurses and physicians showed that working environment would be more conducive if everyone were treated with respect, civility, and courtesy. Both nurses and doctors should be provided with a conducive environment to carry out their work effectively. Most of the time nurses are disadvantaged when it comes to the provision of conducive working environment. Nurses get huge workload than any other profession in the world (Fie, Norman, & While, 2012). W...
