Forbidden Archaeology
Introduction
For a long time people have had different opinion on the origin of man. There are different theories revolving around his origin. Most of these theories suggest that the organisms’ life began more than 3 billion years ago in a basic form and developed into a more complex form slowly. Other theories include the religious theories of creation that suggest that man was created by a supreme being in His own likeness. This theory suggests that the male was created first followed by the female. Through natural birth the two multiplied and hence all mankind are related (Gary 33). However, Charles Darwin disagrees in his evolution theory where he suggested that man started as a tiny cell and developed chronologically in stages to the current Homo sapiens. Richard and Cremo challenge the evolution theory suggesting that Homo sapiens are not the latest product of evolution. The two conclude that man had for a very long time coexisted with other races of simian hominids (Cremo and Richard 25). Further studies on the simian hominids reveal that man could not have descended from them. Forbidden archeology presents scientific evidence both accepted and anomalous in a bid to defy earlier ideas concerning the evolution of humans. In forbidden archaeology, Cremo and Thompson influence the reader to rethink the view of origin of man, destiny and identity while recognizing the origin of civilization. Through a series of evidence, they hold that Darwin and other beliefs regarding the origin of man are wrong.
Darwin’s theory suggests that modern man began evolving approximately 200,000 years ago. Data supporting this belief show that modern humans are related to archaic humans. This is supported by old fossils of around 195,000 years old traced in Ethiopia in East Africa. Other evidence of origin of modern man was found at Laetoli in Tanzania. Other evidence found is of more recent beings of around 60,000 years of age. To support the idea of development from a basic form to a more complex one, there is evidence showing that human beings living today are genetically different from their Homo sapiens ancestors. The difference is attributed to the change in environment into new towns and cities. A change in diet from meat to grains also causes this difference. Urbanization and industrialization tops up the list of reasons for the genetic difference.
Forbidden archaeology proves that man existed more than 3.6 million years ago. In Laetoli, Tanzania, there were foot prints trapped in volcanic ash deposits were discovered. The deposits are of 3.6 years old. Marry Leakey is one of the researchers behind this discovery. According to Leakey, it was hardly possible to distinguish between the discovered foot prints and those of modern man. This only meant that human ancestors living 3.6 million years ago had same foot prints as modern man. The conclusion from this is either man existed at this period or the most likely one and the basis of forbidden archaeology that man co-existed with other apelike creatures.
To the co-existence of man with other apelike creatures, scientists in Africa have brought up evidence in form of fossil bones that perfectly resemble those of humans. W.W. Howells and Bryan Patterson found an upper arm bone at Kanapoi in Kenya. The humerus after further studies including carbon-dating was said to be 4 million years old. The existence of such fossils contradicts the theory that humans developed in chronological stages and supports the belief that man one lived together with other creatures that were more or less similar to him (Cremo and Richard 36).
Civilization is yet another factor that comes in the forbidden archaeology. Civilization is said to have been in existence more than 600 million years ago (HistoryWorld para: 3). There is evidence in form of fossil anchors that were found in quarries. The evidence of coin like object over 200,000 years ago proved that civilization existed long before the date given by the evolution theory as the origin of modern man. The coin was found around 114 feet below the surface. Civilization of modern man came many years after the coin was found. This only means that there existed civilized being before modern man became civilized. There have also been several modern human skulls found in Tanzania and Italy. In Italy, the skull was anatomically modern skull. The skull was assigned to Astian stage. Being an Astian, it is estimated to be 3 – 4 million years (Cremo and Richard 62). In Tanzania, investigations were conducted at Olduvai Gorge and a modern human skeleton was found. This particular skeleton has caused a lot of controversy since then. It is estimated to be 800,000 years old(HistoryWorld para: 6). All this evidences combined show that the belief that man developed chronologically from a basic form to a more complex one is not enti...
