The caste system in India refers to the natural spiritual evolution of people divided into five social classes namely the Brahmans at the top of the Indian social strata who were considered superior in terms of their inherent condition of ritual purity (Vallabhaneni, 2015). Brahmans were believed to have come from Brahma Hindu’s God of creation thus possessing the highest level of consciousness and spiritual wisdom (Sankaran, Sekerdej, & Von Hecker, 2017). Teachers and priests formed the members of this level traditionally.
The second level consists of the Kshatriayas represent a class of people believed to have come from Brahman’s arms. The Kshatriayas abilities lie in leading other members in the caste system such as rulers and warriors while offering protective and administrative services. The Vaishyas comes in the third level and are supposedly believed to have come from Brahman’s thighs as presented by Vallabhaneni, (2015). Vaishyas which include traders, and farmers, were believed to use their intelligence to gain selfish benefits and acquire wealth. The Shudras comes in the second last level of the caste system representing those that could sustain themselves by offering their services to the rest of the members of the upper caste system through their labour.
