Introduction
Principally, the Industrial Revolution started in the Great Britain in between the late 18th century and early 19th century. It later spread to the United States. The idea of industrial revolution was to change the live of the masses. It is essential to note that most people were dependent of subsistence farming and that the state was dependent on agriculture. It is of importance to note is that two centuries ago, Britain started experiencing a wave of change in various aspects of its life because of the revolution in the industry. Innovation in technologies and scientific discoveries enhanced the growth in the agricultural sector and the industrial production. Following the advancement in agriculture, Britain's landscape changed dramatically.
Britain on Industrialization
There are various facts that point out that industrial revolution happened in Britain first. Primarily, Europe was wealthy as compared to other nations and therefore it could afford to finance innovation and inventions. Industrial revolution began in Britain because the Englishmen were entrepreneurship leaders in the development of commerce, which dictated the increase in demand for goods and services. The growth of commerce led to an increase in cumulative capital used to expand the industry. Britain was undergoing a revolution on new ideas in the sense that there was increasing interest on scientific discoveries and inventions.
Why Industrial Revolution Happened in Britain
First, Britain had its colonies all over the world and not only for the reason of conquest or posterity but this, colonies were important sources of raw material for Britain's industries. With the vast resources that the country could gather from its colonies, production was never a problem. Britain also had an enlightened mass, which meant that its workforce was largely educated to run the industries. The three exclusive elements that Britain posed were education, a contemporary work ethic, and contemporary government that other countries lacked at the time. The government obeyed the supply-demand law and the laissez faire system. Britain's government only came in to support the industry by providing financial backing to new ideas and innovations at the time. Other reason industrialized faster than other countries was that the country had in place financial institution that financed the growth of existing factories and set up of new ones. Furthermore, Britain also had large deposits of mineral that were instrumental in running the industry. Most importantly, Britain has its colonial empires that acted as ready markets for the surplus goods they produced.
