In the contemporary world, leadership remains an essential facet of life for every American citizen, regardless of their profession. It is common knowledge that leadership skills and characteristics are factors that one cannot separate him/herself from because they are required in nearly every aspect of an individual’s life. That having been mentioned, there is no doubt that the Army profession is perhaps the most conspicuous one when it comes to appropriate development of leadership skills. Worth noting, the Army profession is constructed on six important traits, namely stewardship of the occupation, honorable service, Esprit de Corps, military expertise, internal trustworthy, and trust of the US citizens (Scguard, 2019). At the same time, the profession heavily relies on three fundamentals of civil-military associations- America Statutes, Constitution, and Values, three characteristics, and three attributes. In the Army, all professionals are leaders irrespective of their official position of authority or rank because they are all expected to uphold the responsibility of being stewards of the occupation ("Army profession and leadership policy," 2017). Those who work in the Army are not only expected to uphold the occupation’s ethics during the mission, but also in every aspect of their lives and while on duty. As a result, the motive to inform the public that the Army profession was made to develop leadership skills through proper training and exposure. Simply put, the Army professional demonstrates leadership by leads, develops, and achieve.
Firstly, the Army professional demonstrates leadership by leads. With regards to the demonstration of leadership by leads, the Army professional communicates effectively, leads by example, build trust, leads others, and extends influences past the command chain (Wenzel, 2015).
