Thirteenth Amendment
This amendment led to changes in the U.S. constitution that led to an end in slavery. This law was initiated in the year 1865 (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2019). It clearly states that no individual should be subjected to involuntary servitude or slavery unless they are serving a jail term as a punishment.
Fourteenth Amendment
In efforts to make sure that naturalized persons or people born in the U.S. are considered citizens, the fourteenth amendment was ratified. This amendment granted former slaves equal protection (Fourteenth amendment, 2020). This law was passed during the reconstruction period.
Buffalo soldiers
This were soldiers who mostly served in the Western borderland and they were American African (History. Com. Editors, 2020). Their major duty was to catch cattle rustlers and robbers and protect settlers, help control the Native Americans of the plains.
