Marijuana is the dried flowers, leaves, and stems from the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant mostly used as a mind stimulant for recreation, a herb, or medicine for curing diseases. According to a poll done in 2017, close to 52% of American adults have smoked marijuana at a point in their life. The drug is thought to have been introduced in the U.S. in the 20th century by Mexicans who migrated into the country. The objections to the abuse of marijuana begun during the movement against alcohol in the county. Some said that the Mexican immigrants demonized the drug, but others justified its use.
