How did the Empire shape London’s economy, culture and geography in 1700s and 1800s?
By 1880s the City of London became the largest city of the planet regarding population reaching over three million inhabitants by 1815 (Allen, 2009). The influx of population was the primary result of emigration of people coming to seek better opportunities during the industrial revolution. The Irish were the majority of inhabitants while the rest of the population comprised of people from France, Italy, Spain as well as German the inhabitants of London during the 1800s had emigrated due to both economic and political factors such as the war in their home country.
