According to Juslin & Sloboda, (2001) Music is defined as an art and a form of entertainment, communication of emotions through vocal frequencies. The music combines sounds or dances. Also, the study indicated that music involves musical instruments for instances, guitar, drums, violin or piano. Music culture is the personal or societal impact received from music. The music has impacted the individual's culture, especially in their emotions recognition and preferences. The study conducted by Wallin, Merker & Brown (2001) indicate the music keeps on evolving from time to time. The music culture is categorized into four components namely; Ideas about the music, activities involved in the music, Repertories of the music and the material culture. The 1950s music greatly influenced the African American culture of the south.
The study conducted by Darwin (1871) indicated that the evolution of human communication systems always resembles the music. It is clearly indicated that over time the music has evolved from one level to another. Gatherer (1997) indicated that the music had evolved with time. For instance in 1890’s the African –American community used a traditional style known as the Ragtime (Floyd & Reisser 1984).
