The 7-Eleven company became a victim of cyber-attacks when attackers gained access to the customers' mobile banking apps and made fake charges on hundreds of accounts crediting the money to their account instead. The attack happened through the hacker gaining access to the accounts; the hacker needed just the email address of the user, their date of birth, and their mobile number. The mobile apps also had a loophole where the date of birth was automatically set to 1st January when the client failed to fill in the field during registration. The hacker used the information to go through the reset password process where he requested the use of another email.
