Employee separations or dismissal create critical conditions for IT departments. Although most of the IT experts concentrate on external threats, insiders usually pose the most serious threat to computer security. Dismissal may even sour a model employee’s opinion about the organization. An employee’s separation period is more important than the initial hiring. When people are dismissed from the company, they know the companies’ rivals, how often passwords are changed, how seriously the company takes physical security, how often the company performs back-up, client list, and phone directory (Sarkar, 2010). A leaving employee can inadvertently discard sensitive documents of a company. Therefore, in this situation, the incident should be started off correctly by properly securing and protecting the evidence on the laptop.
