QUESTION 1
Multi-data center architecture
This architecture will involve the extensive use of NoSQL databases. This in effect has the effect of increasing speed and ability to scale. The data bases are able to store larger volume data than the traditional relational databases. In case of documents for instance, it offers a simpler model which offers an increased speed to market and enable quicker response to both the employees and potential customers of DTGOV.
Multi-data center architecture is normally home to an organizational computational power, storage and the application that are necessary to support it. Many times the Redundant single site designs handles multiple more prevalent issues that cause downtime within infrastructure layers for example handling probable occurrences such as if the entire site is unreachable, if something gets misconfigured in the DNS that sends traffic in the wrong direction and if the single site is unreachable.. The redundant single site design nearly doubles the cost of infrastructure.
Multi-data center data architecture will improve DTGOV`s data resiliency. Primary-secondary or master-slave database relationships are common, but have some challenges when failures occur in high-transaction, heavy traffic environments. Databases are taking lots of requests and transactions are being written and read continuously. Backup processes can be taxing and time-consuming. Restoration and synchronization can take significant time. Heavy demand environments can benefit from an active-active database configuration with bi-direction replication to keep data synchronized on both database servers. This type of design does add more complexity but also adds greater levels of redundancy and resiliency within a single site, or across multiple sites, depending on configuration.
Hybrid cloud site architectures
Hybrid cloud site architecture will help in protecting DTGOV`s application or site redundancy by leveraging multiple public/private cloud infrastructures or dedicated hosted servers. This will require data and infrastructure portability between selected service providers. A hybrid approach requires an ability to launch identically functioning servers into multiple public/private clouds. This architecture can be used to avoid cloud service provider lock-in. It is also used to take advantage of multiple cloud resource pools. The hybrid approach can be used in both hybrid cloud and hybrid IT situations.
The architecture will allow multiple workloads and data to be moved between private and public clouds in a flexible way thereby give DTGOV greater flexibility and various options for data deployment. It combines the benefits of both public and private clouds.
Hybrid cloud site architecture ring-fences the data center to create a zero trust model in which accesses demands for authentication .Additionally, data is stored in a cloud and not in the hardware implying that access is strictly restricted to only a few authorized IT team of the organization Through development of strong data classification, destroy data in the public cloud to minimize unauthorized access
Cloud and dedicated hosting architecture
Hybrid cloud solutions can use public and private cloud resources as a supplement for internal or external data center servers. This can be used to comply with data physical location requirements. If the database cannot be transitioned to a cloud computing platform, other application tiers may not have the same restrictions. In these situations, hybrid architecture can use a virtual private network (VPN) to implement an encrypted tunnel across a public IP between cloud and dedicated servers.
BENEFITS OF CLOUD ARCHITECTURE DEPLOYMENT
* All the architectures will improve the level of accessibility of data as a result of greater boost of the degree of responsiveness.
* Cloud computing lowers the costs; architectures such as hybrid cloud site will enormously help in relieving DTGOV`s workload from the IT organizational team
* Increase of scalability and flexibility. Hybrid cloud site architecture will allow DTGOV to scale up their cloud capacity by changing their usage plan.
* Cloud architecture enhances better risk management and security of data to hinder unauthorized access; this is normally ensured by storing of data in the cloud and not in the hardware enabling authorized IT experts to restrict access of data when needed and to equally back it up to avoid data loss.
* Cloud computing architecture ensures multi-site management; this computing allows hosting and management of many sites from one single dashboard.
QUESTION 3
* Conducting a cloud vendor audit; Through the audit the providers are to enable automation of typically one-off costly auditing, assurance and compliance functions and provide a controlled set of interfaces to allow for assessment by consumers of their services .Auditing ensures that only that more than one suitable vendor are identified as a contingency incase the preferred vendor is not approved.
* Comprehend the procurement policies; The IT experts need to keenly grasp the policies so that they can know whether or not they can rely on a single cloud vendor or they may need to follow dual deployment policies. Some organization may require more than a single vendor for redundancy and failover capabilities.
* Conduct a complete internal security audit; the audit aims at unearthing the security policies the organization already have in place for both on-premise and the cloud servers. For examples some issues such as overlapping namespaces including ID ranges for user accounts can be known on time. Noting of all discrepancies and assets technology barriers is essentials.
* Assess the kind of information to be stored; Organization should meet with those in charge of each critical line of business to pinpoint the types of information to be saved in the cloud and how data is expected to be moved to an on-premise environment. Additionally, evaluating security needs is also important across each area so you can grasp the sensitivity of information such as credit card data, personal employee details, financial or health records, passwords and business plans.
* Prepare for regulatory audits; consultations with the administrative staff are necessary to determine how much effort is needed to support these disruptive activities. Determine what tools they currently use and the existing gaps.
QUESTION FOUR
* Combine public clouds, private clouds and on-premises resources ;this aids in capitalizing on the benefits of public cloud as well as the tight security assured by a private cloud. Private cloud provides access to services such as backup and disaster recovery.
* Develop a good traffic management mechanism; there arises cases for example a service running too slowly and calls to it to take too long or it gets overwhelmed with too many calls and thus lacks processing power needed to respond quickly. Addressing such heavy traffic situations requires good management. A way for calling services and called services to communicate status and coordinate traffic loads.
* Use a correctly scoped functionality; monolithic application architecture n normally has a lot of code in them that implements widely differing approach to make a change to a monolithic one must coordinate across many groups.Microservice helps to determine the breadth of the functionality it should implemement. For example if one has a tax look up function in their monlothic app that many functions’ call it’s a candidate to be out into into their own service.
* IT manager should get the system back online after downtime resulting from any reason; organization heavily depend on the IT infrastructure for smooth running of day to day running of the organization. Therefore the IT department should ensure they get the organization’s system back online as quick as possible to avert inconveniences.
Organization may require cloud bursting; this application deployment allows application to run in a private cloud and only bursts into the public cloud when the demand spikes. Therefore it allows client to only switch non-sensitive and non-critical functions over public and the rest over a private cloud. Cloud bursting comes handy in various scenarios in an organization, for example sectors that deals with seasonal spikes that put extra burden on a private cloud. (Jain,Rane&Patidar,2011).
* Organization needs to have a disaster recovery plan; this involves documentation of processes and tools an organization can use so as to recover data in the event of an unavoidable or human-induced disaster. Flexible plans boosts restoration efforts for adoption to unexpected developments. For example, the plan should have communication plan of who to be phoned, checklist of pre-disaster actions and clear instructions on response and recovery plan. (Alarms, Alarms and Systems, 2019)
* Combine clouds with the data Centre; this allows the public cloud to function as an extension of the data center via an IPsec VPN connection allowing safe and secure deployment of workloads in locations. For example that combinations boosts data security as cloud providers have better security mechanisms in place. (Hintsch, Khan, Siengling&Turowski, 2017).
* Include the virtualized Next-Generation firewalls; the firewall is deployed to protect both private and public clouds by preventing threats and enabling applications. It ensure...
