In criminal justice, law enforcement officers often face a challenge in determining the course of action in cases of an apparent dilemma. In this case, the law enforcement officer is at crossroads regarding whether that may lead to the acquittal of the suspect or lie and have the suspect jailed. The implications of either decision make it challenging for an officer to make a choice. Based on the facts of the case, it is always right to tell the truth, whether the implications will be favorable or otherwise. Assuming the law enforcement officer’s position is testifying in the case, I will tell the truth and let the jury evaluate the facts of the case. As apparent, mentioning the slipping may mean that the defense team will have a strong argument against my claim and let a potential drug peddler be let free. At the same time, there is a chance that the suspect did not drop the bag that had cocaine. Doing the right thing irrespective of the outcomes of the case epitomizes ethical compliance in the case.
