FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CYCLE OF VIOLENCE
According to social scientists, the cycle of violence is the recurrent and hazardous act of inhumanity that occurs in a certain manner regardless of where it occurs. Factors that contribute to social violence are age, gender, race, social class, and sexuality. Cycles of violence take different forms, such as tension building, battered phase and honey money phase. The available data shows that social class determine whether people will be involved in crimes or not. Information presented suggested that poor people commit hordes of crime compared to financially stable individuals. This factor exists because impoverishment impact with the decision that people make. It can impact temperament, especially the possibility of violence or criminal temperament. Another factor that contributes to the cycle of violence is age. The imperative from the data presented exhibited that people below 30 indulge in most criminal activities. Social scientists, however, attempted to interpret this data to infer vivid meaning. However, sociologists try to parse these data to understand what they mean. For instance, people below the age of 30 may be inordinately accused of violence and detained. Also, young individuals are prone to peer influence, and they are more likely to indulge in violence because of it.
Sexuality is another factor that influences the cycle of violence. Men generally indulge in acts of violence as compared to women (Kappeler and potter 80). This factor of cycle violence can be attributed to how people perceived societal values, norms, beliefs and cultural practices. Societal values such as norms for men demands authority and tough competition. This factor of cycle violence compels them to behave in a particular manner, resulting in crimes and violent activities. Even though men and boys commit hordes of crimes, girls and women engage in one form of crime: prostitution. This cause of cycle violence can be attributed to women's perceived sexuality as an item for trade.
Finally, race has an important influence on cycle violence, including the rate of crime and arrest. For instance, in the US, race influences the possibility of being arrested and convicted of violence. The black people and their
