Federal bureaucracy refers to the unelected administrative body within the executive branch that is fundamental to the government of the United States. This body consists of agencies, departments, and commissions that function to administer the law. Since Federal bureaucracy can administer bills passed by congress, it is sometimes known as the ''Fourth branch'' of the government.
