Introduction.
ALEC (the American Legislative Exchange Council) is an America’s policy organization that is responsible for giving platforms to the legislators for the state and the leaders for the private sectors so that they can share and have an exchange program of the state and the public. The composition of ALEC are the representatives from the corporates, the legislatures and the formed taskforce that works on certain selected issues like the right of the workers, energy and environmentalists. They all work in unison to write legislative models. The governing board approves the ALEC membership that has been worked on by taskforces. The approved bills will be updated to become the official ALEC political models once they have passed through hurdles that are then incorporated to be legislations. ALEC is also concerned with the way its members drafts and makes approvals of the legislations models and it has a policy that it uses to conducts her businesses which it keeps on updating after a frequency of five years.
Historical view
ALEC organization was started to be the aid of the policy makers for the legislative purposes. It has been specifically named as the government’s free market or simply the federalism of the state. The formation of ALEC was done in Chicago in the year 1973 with a small collection of law makers and advocates who shared a common goal. The organization also accept nonpartisan membership that also believed in limited government, liberty of every individual, free market and federalism (Gandio & II, 2017).
Paul Weyrich was the most common member and the founder of ALEC which he happens to be the leader of the Free Congress Foundation. With ALEC, the government managed to save the government and formed a state level from federal by decentralizing it, this was latter own to be known as the privatization movement. It then put itself to task and to find out why there was a deteriorating trend in the educational systems. The body then came to publish the report with the findings to be due to declining of the values, centralization and the increasing freedom of social agenda that had been allowed into the learning institutions (Welch, Gruhl, Thomas, & Borrelli, 2018). ALEC went ahead and suggested solutions that included paying the teachers’ salaries using updated systems like vouchers and to improve the standards for academics and the moral standards for the students.
