Organized Crime according to Sociology is a continuing criminal enterprise that rationally works to profit from illicit activities that are often in great public demand. It’s existence is maintained through corruption of public officials, the use of public officials and the use of intimidation threat or force.
Organized Crime Offenders ( Passas, 1990)
Terrorists : these are groups or individuals who use calculated unlawful violence to inculcate fear intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political , religious or ideological.
Human Traffickers : these are individuals or groups who carry out unlawful act of transporting or coercing people in order to benefit from their work or service, through forced labour or sexual exploitation.
Money laundering : this refers to the concealment of the origins of illegally obtained money typically by means of transfers involving foreign banks or legitimate businesses.
Armed robbery : It is the aggravated form of theft that involves the use of a lethal weapon to perpetrate violence or the threat of violence against a victim.
Counterfeiting : this is the act of producing exact imitation of something valuable with the intention to deceive or defraud people.
Rebel forces : they are people who are fighting against their own country’s army in order to change the political system or leadership.
