Children can acquire better developmental outcomes when they spend more time with the parents or members of the extended family. The psychological changes that occur in the kids contribute to their vulnerability. Mood swings and complexity of emotions characterizes teenage-hood. Failure to manage emotions positively leads to emotional instabilities. Parents and other family members are likely to provide a socially supportive atmosphere that prompts the adoption of healthy behaviors. The family members have an understanding of the health history of a kid, which guides in contemplating matters such as kid’s interests, weaknesses and behaviors (Tassoni, 2007). Family-centered care approach that identifies the crucial goal of the family in a kid’s life and puts the family at the centre of the kid’s care. The approach views a kid as an important component in the family-nurse partnership, thus participate in the developmental process.
Families are vital components in achieving effective communication and positive health outcomes for the kids. Children are likely to identify the family strengths by listening and observing the behavior of the family members with respect to health care requirements. Some family interventions provide a mechanism for relating kids by adjusting and responding to healthcare systems, family values and experiences. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child specifies the fundamental privileges of kids that every kid is required to enjoy irrespective of the prevailing conditions. The privileges include matters such as the right to survival, protection from abuse and exploitation, right to cultural and social life.
