Introduction
Global warming is a phenomenon that has been on the rise in the recent past which entails an increase in the temperatures above the usual levels leading to climate change (NASA Para 1). Global warming is caused by excess accumulation of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere leading to the destruction of the ozone layer. When the ozone layer is destroyed the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun penetrates to the surface of the earth. However, the penetration of the harmful ultraviolet rays has tremendous effects.
First, global warming leads to health effects; greenhouse gases are harmful gases that accumulate in the atmosphere when these gases mix with the water it causes acidic rain (UCS, Para 8). Acidic rain has been recognised to be among the causes of cancer. Moreover, the acidic rain affects the plants, when the acidic water drops on the plants, the leaves are effects and thus the plants are unable to synthesise food. Therefore, plants ultimately die; the death of plants affects other animals in the food chain that depend on the plants (UCS Para 8).
