One of the major concerns currently causing major anxiety within our global village is the issue of how to safeguard our environment (Szirmai, 2005). Despite the efforts’ geared towards making sure that there is a continuous improvement in economic development - upgrade in medical care, educational facilities, growth and support of peoples’ income and tax base, employment creation or retaining of jobs and many more elements that enhance the overall fiscal planning in an economy, there is also a need for us to review how economic planning has an effect in the regulation of the environmental conservation.
From a policy perspective, economic development can be defined as the efforts a country gears towards the overall improvement in an economy’s that is, in terms of its well being and the quality of life in it. The development of an economy is heavily dependent on the natural resources produced by government-owned companies. Such activities range from Oil and gas exploration, the production of raw materials and many more that are deemed as being highly beneficial to the economy of a country (Szirmai, 2005). However, to this same extent, the well being of people’s life and health is heavily dependent on the environment - the people’s life and health.
One important factor that we have to take into consideration is that economic development is not the only factor that contributes to an individual’s life. There are also other factors such as socio-economic and environmental factors that the economy needs to take into account. For instance, we have to take into account factors such as hygienic conditions within our surroundings - wastes, clean air and water, promotion of renewable natural resources and many more elements that contribute to the overall well being of an individual’s life. Sustained economic development can only be achieved when the conversation and protection of environmental resources within an environment is put first.
Governments can take part in offering sponsorships that gear towards the overall well being of the environment at all. For instance, the government can take part in ‘recycling projects’ that see a country’ economy safeguarded and protected As a result; a country’s financial resources are enhanced especially where such projects are deemed efficient and effective to a country’s economy (Szirmai, 2005). Therefore, scholars in the field of economy should take into account such environmental requirements, thus consequently making sure that such projects and plans are well implemented and put into place.
